When an Autographed Card Has No Autograph

I'm not sure what you would call this card.  It is supposed to be the 1998 Stadium Club Co-Signers card with Tino Martinez on it, but the autographs of both players are missing.  Is it a sample?  A proof?  An error?  I am sure it was not packed out like this.  I picked it up because it was cheap and to pad my numbers.  I have yet to see the autographed version of this or the one with the Alomar brothers anywhere.  The Alomar/Pettitte shows up frequently.  Maybe one of these days the real version of this one will too.

  1. I have only seen the Alomar brothers card once on ebay about two years ago. Both sigs were very faded, it still sold for around $100. Baseballcardpedia states there are ~25 copies of the card out there.
I picked up the Alomar/Martinez shortly after for $35 on ebay. I haven't seen too many copies of it either over the years.

  2. That doesn't really shock me that the Alomar brothers dual auto went that high. I don't think Roberto has a ton of autos out there and having a dual auto with both brothers would be in high demand by a number of collectors.

I recently responded to a thread on a forum asking about ideal triple autos. The three Alomars were one of my choices. Particularly if they could all be pictured with the White Sox or the Mets, the two teams that all three Alomars played for, or the Padres since Sandy Sr. coached for them at the time the brothers were coming up.
